THE CHALLENGE
Applying an intersectional lens to design work can help ensure that more people will benefit and less will be overlooked or harmed by the solutions we create. But, intersectionality can feel overwhelming to consider in practice.

AWARDS
Who is Artefact Group?
Artefact Group is a strategy and design firm that creates human-centered experiences and products. They focus on experience and interaction design, combining research and strategy to build meaningful, innovative solutions.
Reflection + Refraction:
Our Identities in Motion
Five shapes represent the process of intersectionality, with motion designed to reflect the actions and relationships within each stage. Each movement translates an abstract process into a tangible sequence of reflection, scaling, and shifting. Through variations in position, size, shape, and speed, the system visualizes collaboration and the exploration of diverse perspectives.
As the shapes converge, they illustrate each phase of the process—morphing, refracting, and reshaping in response to scroll. The interaction reinforces the idea that users actively guide and influence the process.
A Tool for Intersectionality
Comprising a website, Miro, and Google Slides, the toolkit is designed to embed directly into team workflows throughout the design process.
Recognition
Kaleidoscope received international recognition, earning awards as a runner up for Core77 Design and Fast Company Innovation Impact by Design Winner.
Augmenting the experience with motion
Through this project at Artefact, motion design emerged as more than a visual layer—it became a tool for translating complex ideas into intuitive, engaging experiences.
